Introduction by Becky Higgins
You could say I've been drawing sketches most of my life. As a young
girl, I would get the itch to rearrange my bedroom every few months or
so. Did I just dive in and start pushing things around? Nooo. I got
out my handy pad of grid paper, sat in the middle of my bed and drew
the layout of my bedroom. Then I'd fill the space by sketching out
where each piece of furniture would go.
Some say I go a little overboard in the organization department. I say
if you want to be effective with your time, you need to see the big
picture and plan ahead. That's why sketches are so important in
scrapbooking. When you can see the big picture of how things will be
laid out on a scrapbook page, the process of putting the page together
is fast and easy.
We've compiled these all-new layout sketches in Creative Sketches
for Scrapbooking to make the scrapbooking process faster and
easier for you. With your photos in front of you, simply find a sketch
that works with your pictures. Or if you spot a sketch you'd like to
try, find pictures to go with that sketch. With 52 sketches in this
book, you have enough sketches to create one layout per week for a
year!
For each sketch in this book, you'll find a layout I've created, as
well as interpretations of the same sketch by other talented
scrapbookers. The variety of styles is sure to inspire you.
Remember, these sketches are guides. Feel free to change and rearrange
as you see fit. Use the photos, colors and accents you want. Be
inspired by the designs, the color schemes, the photography, the
journaling and the use of products. Scraplift if you want. But allow
yourself the freedom to interpret each sketch in your own unique way.
Most of all, have fun. The ideas in this book are sure to spark your
creativity!
